Customer-reported problem

The customer reported a Bosch dishwasher displaying an E15 error code. When the dishwasher was tested on arrival, it filled normally and began the wash cycle without immediately showing the fault.

Diagnosis

During the initial inspection, the dishwasher was found to be installed incorrectly with the front of the unit sitting lower than the rear. The customer explained that the dishwasher had previously been installed with the proper rearward tilt, but a previous technician had left it positioned incorrectly after service. The front leveling legs were adjusted to restore the proper installation angle, and testing continued. The dishwasher was then removed from the cabinet so the lower base and internal components could be inspected. A small amount of water was present in the bottom safety pan, consistent with the E15 leak-protection fault, but no major active leak was immediately visible. The dishwasher was monitored during operation for approximately 30 minutes. Eventually, a slow intermittent drip was observed coming from the diverter assembly. The diverter controls the distribution of wash water between the different spray arms inside the dishwasher. The slow leak from this component was allowing water to collect in the base pan and trigger the E15 protection system.

Repair performed

A replacement diverter assembly was ordered. During the return visit, the dishwasher was disconnected and removed from the cabinet. The unit was carefully positioned to allow access to the lower base, and the failed diverter assembly was replaced. The dishwasher was then reassembled, leveled correctly, reinstalled, and tested through operation.

Result

After replacement of the diverter assembly, no further leakage was observed. The dishwasher completed testing normally and the E15 error did not return. The repair corrected both the active leak and the installation position, restoring normal dishwasher operation.
