Customer-reported problem

The customer reported that the refrigerator had stopped cooling completely. Both the fresh-food and freezer compartments were warm, and the refrigerator was unusually quiet with no normal compressor operating sounds.

Diagnosis

Initial testing confirmed that the compressor was not running and was not receiving power. The next step was to determine whether the problem originated from the main control board, the inverter board, or the compressor itself. Power from the main control board to the inverter board was checked first. The inverter board was receiving approximately 120 VAC supply voltage as expected. The low-voltage control signal from the main control board was also tested and measured approximately 17 VDC. This confirmed that the main control board was supplying both the required line voltage and the control signal to the inverter. The compressor was then electrically tested. Compressor winding resistance was within the expected range, and no short to ground was detected. Because the inverter board was receiving the correct supply and control voltages but was not delivering power to the compressor, the inverter board was identified as the failed component.

Repair performed

A replacement inverter board was ordered and installed. After installation, the compressor started normally and the refrigeration system resumed operation.

Result

The refrigerator returned to normal operation after the inverter board replacement. Both the fresh-food and freezer compartments began cooling properly, confirming that the inverter board diagnosis was correct. The compressor itself was functioning normally and did not require replacement.
