Diagnosis
The washer would not reliably start or complete a wash cycle. The customer initially experienced a door lock failure and contacted GE for troubleshooting advice. The door lock was relocated to the alternate factory-provided position and replaced, but the problem returned. The washer started once, then failed to complete the cycle and the door remained locked. Diagnosis Diagnostic testing showed abnormal voltage being supplied to the door lock circuit. Approximately 65 volts were present continuously instead of the proper switched voltage required for correct lock operation. The washer was also placed into service/test mode, where multiple stored fault codes were found, including errors related to the door lock, heater, motor, and other systems. Because several unrelated components were reporting faults and the door lock circuit was receiving incorrect control voltage, the main control board was identified as the source of the problem.
Repair performed
During the second visit, the main control board was replaced. After installation, the washer was reassembled and tested to confirm proper operation of the door lock and control system.
Result
The washer started normally and completed its operating cycle correctly after the control board replacement. Door lock operation returned to normal, confirming the original diagnosis. The repair was successfully completed and the customer was satisfied with the result.
