Samsung Refrigerator Not Cooling – Evaporator Fan Repair in Brooklyn
A real KLIA NY appliance repair case.

Customer-reported problem
The customer reported that the refrigerator compartment had stopped cooling while the freezer continued to operate normally. When we arrived, the refrigerator compartment temperature was approximately 65°F, confirming a significant cooling problem.
Diagnosis
Because the freezer was operating normally, the diagnosis was focused on the refrigerator compartment cooling system. Testing was performed directly from the main control board. The refrigerator evaporator defrost heaters and temperature sensors were checked and showed normal resistance readings. The refrigerator was then placed into diagnostic/test mode. During the test, proper voltage was confirmed at the refrigerator evaporator fan circuit, but the evaporator fan itself was not operating. There was no abnormal ice buildup indicating a defrost problem. With the defrost components testing correctly and power being supplied to the fan, the refrigerator evaporator fan motor was identified as the failed component.
Repair performed
A replacement refrigerator evaporator fan motor was ordered and installed during the return visit. An important feature of this model is that the refrigerator compartment evaporator does not use a separate electric defrost heater. Air circulation from the evaporator fan is part of the system used to control frost buildup in this section. During disassembly, ice buildup was found on the refrigerator evaporator. Because the evaporator fan had stopped operating, normal airflow was lost and the evaporator was no longer defrosting properly. The evaporator was fully defrosted, the failed fan motor was replaced, and the refrigerator was reassembled and tested.
Result
After the evaporator was defrosted and the failed fan motor was replaced, airflow through the refrigerator compartment returned to normal and proper cooling was restored. The repair also eliminated the frost buildup condition caused by the failed fan, confirming the original diagnosis. The refrigerator returned to normal operation and the customer was satisfied with the result.
